Here are my submissions for self-portrait. I apparently have an affinity for slow shutter speeds.
The first shot was taken handheld at arms length with a flash. It was cropped down from a larger picture. I picked this one because I thought there was a sense of movement created by the mind trying to center on both eyes, but since the left side of the face has focus, there's a tendency to move in that direction.
The next two shots were taken with a softbox light just off camera. I kept it in b & w because of the shadows. The first one is barely in focus because of the slow shutter speed.

Welcome to the Usual Spot!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the Usual Spot! There's some great photo's you go here. My favorite would have to be the first one. I have to agree with you. I do love the feeling of motion between the two eyes. But if I were to change anything in the photo, it would be to back out just a tad. Either that or tilt you face just a little more towards the camera. Other than that, I like what I see.
ReplyDeleteOh! the post above this is me Mark.

Thanks for those comments. Mark, what is gained by moving back?
ReplyDeleteI cropped this down from a larger original. Maybe I can take another crop from the original and see if that helps.
In my opinion I just wanted to see more.
