Self Portrait / Han Ting Kao

Here are my submissions for self-portrait. I apparently have an affinity for slow shutter speeds.

The first shot was taken handheld at arms length with a flash. It was cropped down from a larger picture. I picked this one because I thought there was a sense of movement created by the mind trying to center on both eyes, but since the left side of the face has focus, there's a tendency to move in that direction.

50 mm, Tv 1/20, Av F2.8, ISO 100, Flash

The next two shots were taken with a softbox light just off camera. I kept it in b & w because of the shadows. The first one is barely in focus because of the slow shutter speed.

Here's Something New For You Guys.

So I realize that we are sometimes busy, and unable to make the dead-line for the assignments. Whether it being a photo shoot for a client, or just something for yourself, i.e Photowalk, the birth of your newborn son (Me), or what have you. So if you want some good ol' constructive criticism. Post it! You can post any number of shots as you wish. But if your posting more than three. Label all of the photo's, that way we can pin point which photo to refer to. Some of the rules will apply. Shrink all the photo's down to 600. Also when you tag your post, tag it with "Other" and your name. But other than that show us what you got and keep creative.

Mark.

So this isnt what I had in mind for myself when I came up with the assignment, but it was too good to pass up. I know I only focused on the vocalist from the group but he was the most animated. These are photos of Travis Meeks from the group "Days of the New"

I know my post is a little late... But hey, better late than never right.
So my theme is "Strike" Force. I figured since I have the gear. Why not!
I wanted to go for the Journalistic/Super Grainy/Raw kind of feeling. I didn't use a flash or anything. I actually went out to Home Depot and picked up a $9 flood lamp for lighting.
Figured I'll get creative with a cheap budget.
